    The purpose of the project is to present in "Lviv Interactive" map the features and the main points of the historical development of several areas of the north-eastern part of the city, united under Pidzamche name.

  • Imaginary Map of Literary Lviv (±1939) Imaginary Map of Literary Lviv (±1939)

    The project aims to reconstruct a map of literary life of Ukrainians, Poles, and Jews in relation to Lviv's topography. The map is defined as "imaginary" as the main sources for its reconstruction were the memoirs of the men of letters. They offer a certain organic corpus of facts, the combination of which produces a generalized subjective picture of the processes.

  • Modernism in Lviv Modernism in Lviv

    This map demonstrates 23 chosen buildings. These functionalist objects are part of cultural heritage in Lviv which still holds some controversy and is rather undervalued. Their stories tell about war damage and reconstruction in the city, economic crisis, and the new demands for the quality of life and dwelling. They were created in cooperation or sometimes counteraction between architects who developed new bold ideas, local authorities and their policies concerning city development, and the building owners and residents.

    Around Staroyevreiska project aims to accumulate a database of scholarly elaborations of archival and bibliographical data, live research, as well as visual (videorecordings, photogallery, graphic materials) and verbal (interviews) information.

  • Oral History of Lviv Oral History of Lviv

    The aim of this project is to collect oral testimonies from Lviv inhabitants, and on the basis of those testimonies to trace the changes that took place in particular streets and districts of the city during the second half of the twentieth century.

    The theme aims at closing a gap in research about Lviv and at attracting public and scholarly interest to the preservation of military-history monuments from the mid-nineteenth century in the former capital of Habsburg "Galicia and Lodomeria."

  • Sykhiv: from Microraion to Macrohistory Sykhiv: from Microraion to Macrohistory

    The theme aims to produce a socio-cultural, etnographic study of a Lviv city suburb, Sykhivskyi masyv. It  focuses on its emergence and its life, providing a kind of "thick description" of its functioning, uses and symbolic meanings.

    The theme aims at a thorough research of Lviv area commonly known as Kastelivka, until today a largely underresearched example of town planning.

  • Lviv Cemeteries Lviv Cemeteries

    The theme aims to analyze the historical development and the localizatoin of Lviv cemeteries, as well as to provide a general evaluation of their historical and cultural significance.

  • Market Square in Lviv Market Square in Lviv

    The aim of this theme is to demonstrate the peculiarities of Lviv Market Square (Ukr., Rynok Square), highlight the key moments in its history and the general directions of its development. 

  • Jewish city Jewish city

    This theme highlights the sites and personalities in the history of the Jewish community in the city.

  • Socialist City Socialist City

    The theme highlights the objects, constructed in Lviv during the period of Soviet Union.

  • Secessionist Ensemble of Bohomoltsia Street Secessionist Ensemble of Bohomoltsia Street

    Bohomoltsia street is one of the first residential complexes in the city. Designed by Ivan Levynskyi in 1903, it reflects the contemporary urbanist ideas coherent with the garden city movement in the early 20th century.

    This theme is a part of an interdisciplinary seminar for students at Stetson University (USA) focusing on "diversity". It integrates different buildings and sites and explores the difficulty of acknowledging, and reckoning with the multiple contested narratives of a place, city, or country.
