    This remnant of a fortification structure dates back to the fourteenth–fifteenth centuries. It was one of 16 roundels in the outer ring of fortifications of medieval Lviv, which was dismantled at the end of the eighteenth century. The roundel was part of the eastern curtain wall of the city's defensive fortifications. It was uncovered during the construction of the monument to Ivan Fedorov, erected on the adjacent plot. In 1977, it was conserved along with fragments of the inner curtain wall and the Masons' Tower.

The Gothic fortification structure is one of 16 bastions of the outer ring of the defensive wall of medieval Lviv (demolished at the end of the 18th century). It was located in the southern part of the eastern section of the wall. Discovered in 1906, it is a semicircular structure built of stone.

      An earlier wooden castle was replaced in 1362 by a stone one, of which a fragment of its southern wall has been preserved till today. In 1869 stones from the castle were used for the construction of Kopiec Unii Lubelskiej (Mound of the Union of Lublin) on top of the Lviv Castle Hill.
