Vul. Hrushevskoho, 4 – Lviv National Franko University building

A former convent school, later – a Lviv University building. It was originally built in 18th century, one of the major reconstructions was carried out in 1842 according to design of Fidelis Stadler. It is an example of Neo-Classicism in Lviv. It was built for a Jesuit convent school for young people from noble families. Later it housed military barracks. In 1851 it was transferred to the ownership of Lviv Franz-Joseph I University. Today (2015) it is one of Lviv Ivan Franko National University, it's Biology Department is located here.

Prosp. Svobody, 28 – Lviv Opera house

The Lviv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater was built in 1897-1900 under a project designed by architect Zygmunt Gorgolewski. The building is erected in historicist style and influenced by the so-called Vienna Neo-Renaissance. The monumental theater building has occupied a key position in the architectural ensemble of the city’s main avenue created in the late 19^th – early 20^th century.

Vul. Shevchenka – Yanivsky (Yaniv) cemetery
Yanivsky (Yaniv) cemetery was founded in 1883; it is situated on Shevchenka street. The area of the cemetery is about 38 hectares now; over 200 thousand persons are buried in its 68 fields. One can find there numerous burial vaults of high artistic value as well as civil and military graves from the First and Second World Wars, including those of the Ukrainian Galician Army riflemen, Polish military men, Nazi, the Yaniv concentration camp of 1941-1943 victims. In 1962 the territory of the nearby Jewish cemetery, which was founded in 1855, was attached to Yanivsky cemetery. Since the early 1980s the cemetery has been closed for burials because of lack of free area.

The Habsburg University

The University, founded in 1784 by Joseph II on the basis of the abolished Jesuit academy, was to become the main source of professional officials for the capital of the Galician province. Stress was laid not on research, but chiefly on the training of managers. After numerous changes, in particular, the demotion of the institution status to that of a lyceum, in 1817 the university was refounded by Emperor Francis II. The institution existed in this condition till the end of 1918.
