Story
The building is situated in the central part of the city within the street's terraced development. It was built at the beginning of the twentieth century according to a design (which also encompassed the neighboring house at No. 1) approved by the city magistrate on September 24, 1905 (ДАЛО 2/2/2254:13-22). The architect was Ivan Levynskyi, and the clients were Józef and Aleksander Elster. According to a submission dated August 28, 1905, Józef and Aleksander received permission to construct a three-story building on September 24, 1905 (ДАЛО, pp. 6-7). The Elsters were granted an occupancy permit on October 17, 1906; at the same time, the magistrate certified that the house had been completed on October 3, 1906 (ДАЛО, p. 12).
In the 1930s, the building belonged to Lazar Raiser (Księga adresowa, 1935–1936). Currently, it is used as a residential building with apartments on the first through third floors.
Architecture
This residential tenement house was erected at the beginning of the twentieth century within the street's terraced development. It is a three-story, brick, and plastered structure built in 1906 in the Secessionist style. The composition of the principal elevation is symmetrical, featuring two flanking protruding wall sections. The first floor is decorated with banded rustication; at the level of the second and third floors, the walls are vertically articulated by lesenes, adorned at the top with profiled mascarons in the form of women's heads, Secessionist wreaths, and floral ornaments. Balconies with wrought iron railings project at the second and third floors. On the second floor, the balconies are supported by profiled brackets, while on the third floor, the brackets are made of wrought metal. The windows on the first and second floors are framed with Secessionist-style plasterwork and textured plaster surfaces. The third-floor windows on the side sections are surrounded by curvilinear frames with profiled leaves. The façade is topped by a curvilinear attic featuring small roof windows, with rows of majolica tiles placed between them.People
