Vul. Lysenka, 9 – residential building ID: 1538
Former address: ul. Kurkowa 9; other address: vul. Hutsulska 1 (Liublinskoi Unii); conscription No. 711 4/4 (in 1889 and 187 — No. 573 4/4). This three-story apartment building was constructed in the 1890s.
Story
On the 1844 plan of Lviv and its suburbs, a garden is visible on this plot. The 1887 and 1890 plans of Lviv show an undeveloped corner lot, where a three-story apartment building was constructed in the 1890s. In 1902 and 1910, a tavern owned by Adolf Kassner was located at the corner of the building, where the "Khlibna Khata" bakery is situated today (as of 2010).
Architecture
This three-story corner building, built on a high basement, was constructed in the Historicist style in the 1890s. The walls of the first and second floors are decorated with banded rustication. The second-floor windows are topped with rounded pediments featuring sculptures of female heads nestled within stylized shells. Above the main entrance gate is a balcony with a convex Neobaroque metal balustrade.
