Vul. Kopernyka, 27 – residential building ID: 1034
A residential building — the former Home for the Destitute (1845). To the northeast of the Church of St. Lazarus, on the slopes of the Vronovsky Hills, is the home for the destitute (or the elderly) established in 1845, which also included hospital premises (now the corner of Kopernyka and Kolessy streets). The Home for the Destitute existed until the Second World War.
Architecture
The building is a three-story, U-shaped in plan, brick, plastered structure. The original internal layout of a corridor type with single-loaded rooms was partially modified during the reconfiguration of the home for the destitute into a residential building after the Second World War. The ground floor is decorated with linear rustication. The second and third floors are divided vertically by rusticated pilasters and recessed panels. A profiled stringcourse runs between the ground and second floors. The windows of the ground floor feature rounded trimming topped with keystones. The windows of the second and third floors feature profiled trimming, which on the second floor are topped with shell motifs in place of keystones, and on the third floor — with keystones.
