Story

The former Catholic House, constructed in 1909 according to a design by architects Ignacy Kędzierski and Adam Opolski, is located at vul. Horodotska 36 (formerly ul. Gródecka 2b). From 1948 to 1954, the building housed an operetta theater — the Theater of Musical Comedy; it was later relocated to Odesa, where the theater continues to operate to this day. Starting in 1953, the premises belonged to the Russian Dramatic Theater of the PrykVO (Carpathian Military District). Following Ukraine's independence, it became the Theater of the Western Operational Command. In 2008, the theater was transferred to the City of Lviv's jurisdiction and renamed the Municipal Theater.

Today, the theater is known as the Lesya Ukrainka Lviv Dramatic Theater.
