Vul. Lysenka, 6 – residential building ID: 1535

Former address: ul. Kurkowa 6 (conscription no. 699 4/4). In 1800–1801, an indoor riding arena and riding school owned by Józef Krupp was constructed on a section of the plot that belonged to the monastery of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers. The riding arena extended along the present-day vul. Lysenka. In the 1890s, several tenement houses designed by architect Andrzej Gołąb were built on its site, including house no. 6. A hair salon has been operating in the building for over a century. The building is designated as an Architectural monument of local significance under landmark ID no. 977 (a residential building from the nineteenth century).

Architecture

This three-story building, set on a raised basement level and featuring a small internal courtyard, was constructed in the Historicist style in the 1890s according to a design by Andrzej Gołąb. Subtle avant-corps with balconies on the second story flank both sides of the principal elevation. The façade walls are finished with banded rustication. The second-story windows are flanked by small pilasters of the Ionic order and reliefs depicting lions holding shields, and are topped with triangular pediments. The third-story windows are flanked by small pilasters of the Tuscan order and topped with rectangular pediments.
