Vul. Lychakivska, 99 – former sports club ID: 1960

The historic building of the Polish gymnastics society "Sokół" ("Sokół-IV" in Lviv) is located at the corner of vul. Lychakivska 99 and vul. Nizhynska 2/4 . It was constructed between 1925 and 1932 according to a design by architects Michał Ryba and Michał Łużecki. As of 2012, it houses the Center for Creative School Youth.

Architecture

The historic building of the Polish gymnastics society "Sokół" (the so-called "Sokół-IV") is situated at the corner of vul. Lychakivska 99 and vul. Nizhynska 2/4 (known as ul. Paulinów until 1945). The plot on which the property stands features complex topography, characterized by a steep incline rising toward vul. Nizhynska. The building stands three stories tall with a residential attic space. Due to the street's slope, the ground floor spans two distinct levels. The main façade facing vul. Lychakivska was previously adorned with a sculptural depiction of a falcon.

The ground floor originally accommodated a bowling alley, an orchestra pit, a storage room, and quarters for a watchman (ДАЛО 2/4/1117:2, 3, 9). The second floor featured a large gymnasium, a cloakroom, a locker room, the society's administrative office, a teachers' lounge, a scout room, and a stage area, which opens onto a terrace facing vul. Nizhynska. The third floor contained a spectator gallery with seating overlooking the large gymnasium, a boardroom, a kitchen, a billiard room, and staff rooms for the sports club. The attic level was occupied by additional club rooms and storage spaces.
