Vul. Krakivska, 14 – former Bramowska townhouse ID: 1037

The residential building (1776) is located at the corner of Krakivska and Virmenska streets. Its corner location gave rise to its historical name, "Bramowska", which dates back to the sixteenth century. The building attained its current appearance following a reconstruction in 1864. In 1926, the building's façade was restored according to a design by architect Józef Awin. At that same time, the ground-floor storefronts were reconstructed according to a design by Józef Thorn. In the 1980s, the building underwent repair and restoration work.

Architecture

The building was constructed in the Empire style. It is a four-story, plastered structure; the ground floor is built of dressed stone, while the upper sections are brick. The interior layout is of the corridor-enfilade type. The primary accent of the façade is a balcony supported by molded corbels decorated with acanthus leaves. The balcony is enclosed by a wrought-iron railing executed in the austere forms of late Classicism; in the center of the railing, within a circle, is the monogram "J. G." and the date "1864", which corresponds to the year of the building's reconstruction.

Profiled cornices run between the building's floors. The ground-floor windows have semi-circular heads and profiled frames. Between the second-floor windows, there are relief inserts in the Empire style, featuring motifs of eagles and garlands characteristic of this style. The window sills on the third floor are decorated with "S"-shaped brackets adorned with stylized acanthus leaves. The building is topped with a prominent modillion frieze.

The interior preserves staircase railings from the first to the fourth floor, executed in the Art Deco style with a Constructivist influence, featuring the geometric motifs characteristic of that style.

The building is a vibrant example of late Lviv Empire-style architecture.
