Vul. Kostiushka, 11 – Lviv State University of Physical Culture ID: 371

The former Regional Bank building (currently — the main building of the Lviv State University of Physical Culture; 1895–1903, architect –– J. Cybulski). The style of the building is Historicism (Neorenaissance). The building is situated on the corner of vul. Kostiushka and pl. Hryhorenka, and features a V-shaped configuration in plan.

Architecture

The building is a three-story brick, plastered structure with a high basement. Its V-shaped block features a chamfered corner accentuated by an attic. The façades are decorated with rustication and divided horizontally by stringcourses into four tiers, with the central sections highlighted by avant-corps. The windows on the second floor are arched, while on the other floors they are rectangular. The window openings are adorned with mascarons, relief medallions, and other forms of plasterwork decor. The entrance from vul. Kostiushka is configured with a portal.

The core of the internal planning structure is the interior of a spacious lobby hall with top lighting, situated deep within the site and flanked by two ranges of smaller rooms adjacent to the line of the façades. The interiors have significantly preserved their original decorative finish.
