Vul. Zelena, 24 – library building (former Zamoyski Palace) ID: 413

The former Zamoyski Palace (currently a library building; early nineteenth century; reconstructed in 1843 by architect Wilhelm Schmidt; reconstructed in 1854; reconstructed in 1910 by architect Edmund Żychowicz). Classicism. The palace is set back within the urban site, separated from the street by a wrought-iron fence. A small public garden is planted in front of the principal elevation. It is an example of a suburban palace from the Classicist era.

Architecture

This two-story brick building is rendered and chamber-like in scale. Its floor plan is rectangular. The façades are executed in balanced, austere forms. At the level of the stringcourse, which dates back to the first half of the nineteenth century, four reliefs on mythological themes have been preserved (crafted by sculptor Johann Schimser).

The interior layout is of an enfilade-and-hall type.

It stands as an example of a suburban palace from the Classicist era.
